Porch roofs traditionally are low slope in architecture. By design the ceiling heights are raised as high as possible before interfering with the 2nd floor windows creating the slope issue. Asphalt shingle deteriorate faster on lower slopes due to dampness and if the slope is too low they leak. Standing seam metal roofing on a porch is by far the most watertight, long lasting and aesthetically appealing solution.
